2020 China UAE Innovation Investment Conference

At the end of 2020, Abu Dhabi Global Market and Central Bank of the U.A.E. will jointly hold the China-U.A.E. Innovation Investment Conference 2020 in the two capitals. The conference will be broadcast through netease, sina finance, phoenix finance and International Financial Center Federation (IFC Federation) in Chinese and recorded in global English from December 2 to December 4, 2020.

The conference is a parallel conference to the Fintech Abu Dhabi, the largest Fintech and innovation event in the Middle East and North Africa.The conference was held against a backdrop of challenging multilateral cooperation amid the global epidemic and high economic uncertainty. It focused on innovation and investment and financial services, and more than 100 Chinese and foreign guests had in-depth exchanges through 15 panel discussions and 35 keynote speeches.

For the first time, this conference will also face the U.A.E. and the Middle East government and investors system to promote China hot investment in regional innovation investment opportunities and financial services, especially in four guest cities and six cooperation cities: Beijing, Macao SAR, Chongqing and Hainan Free Trade Port, etc.

In addition to attracting investment from the Middle East to China, China and the U.A.E. are particularly keen to support Chinese companies in providing competitive and innovative products and services and showcasing world-class solutions to the U.A.E. and its radiating markets in the MENA and European markets. The Conference also looks forward to forging a multilateral consensus among the participants to lead global financial and investment cooperation towards a higher level of openness and sustainability, and to explore new paths of global economic governance.

Abu Dhabi is the capital of the U.A.E., one of the world’s largest oil (gas) producers. Abu Dhabi is the most open and developed financial and innovation center in the Middle East. Ten years of investment by U.A.E. sovereign wealth funds have created an international innovation ecosystem and a financial services system for the country in almost every innovation-related area. Through ADGM, Abu Dhabi’s international financial center, it has been advancing the development of innovation investment, FinTech and financial services.

As China continues to seek the opening of its financial and service sectors, the U.A.E. institutions represented by the Central Bank of the U.A.E. and ADGM are keeping a close eye on this round of investment opportunities. They are looking forward to cooperating with China to seek more dynamics for both countries’ economic growth.

In August 2018, President Xi Jinping and U.A.E. leaders brought our bilateral relations to a “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership”, continuing to deepen cooperation in multiple arenas. In 2020, despite the COVID-19 pandemic and the global economic downturn, the trade, investment, and infrastructure cooperation between the U.A.E. and China have achieved strong growth, becoming a new momentum for social and economic stability for this region and the world at large.

China has always been the most important economic, trade and investment partner of the U.A.E., which is among the earliest countries to support China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the first Arab country to join the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. The U.A.E. is China’s largest investment destination, with the latter being its largest trading partner.

As a government agency of Abu Dhabi, ADGM established its first overseas office in China in 2018 with the support of the People’s Bank of China. ADGM is tasked to build Abu Dhabi into a financial and investment center in MENA under BRI, supporting major institutions and projects of both countries, and to build it into an offshore Renminbi center for MENA, propelling China-U.A.E. economic and financial cooperation even further.
